Work through dull, oxidized metal and blend visible sanding lines with a satin airway buffing wheel. Choose maroon for surface preparation, black for a finer follow-up, or a coordinated kit for both stages. These are preparation and finishing wheels—not a substitute for every step needed to achieve a mirror polish.
Two grades. A clear next step.
Very Fine · Maroon
For blending sanding marks, haze and surface imperfections after initial preparation. Leaves a finish comparable to 320–400 grit sanding, creating a more even base before the next polishing stage.
Ultra-Fine · Black
Use after maroon when a finer surface is needed. Its finish is comparable to 400–600 grit sanding, helping soften remaining preparation marks before final polishing.
Grit ranges describe the resulting finish, not an exact abrasive grit designation. Results depend on the starting surface, technique and condition of the wheel.
Made for the preparation work that shows
Use on suitable aluminum and stainless-steel surfaces, including wheels, tanks and trim. The satin action helps blend a patchy-looking surface into a more consistent finish, reducing repeated sanding steps where the material and its condition allow.
Choose the wheel for the job in front of you: maroon for the earlier blending stage; black for refinement. Test an inconspicuous area first, especially on a finish or coating you want to preserve.
A practical two-grade workflow
- Prepare and blend. Clean the workpiece and complete any necessary initial surface preparation. Use the maroon wheel to feather sanding lines and uneven-looking areas.
- Refine. Follow with black for a finer, more uniform starting surface before your final polishing process.
- Finish to your target. Continue with the appropriate polishing wheel and compound for your metal and desired finish. Inspect the surface between stages rather than treating extra pressure or speed as a shortcut.
Match the wheel, mounting and operating speed
Maximum operating speed: 2,200 RPM. Use only equipment that can operate within this limit. Do not fit these wheels to a fixed-speed grinder that runs faster, or use a compatible variable-speed machine at full speed above the limit.
A 5/8"-11 spindle connection is relevant only when the machine, mounting arrangement and selected hardware are compatible. It is not a universal-fit promise. Confirm wheel clearance and follow the equipment manufacturer's mounting instructions.
Use suitable safety flanges when mounting. They help support the wheel and reduce center-plate warping. Secure the workpiece, inspect the wheel before use, and use appropriate eye, face and respiratory protection for the work.

Before you choose
What does “No Center Plate” mean?
The abrasive wheel is included; the center plate is not. Choose “Center Plate” when you need that configuration. A plate shown in a general product image does not override your selected option.
What comes in each kit?
A single-grade option includes one wheel. Combo Pack includes one maroon and one black wheel. Surface Prep Bundle contains the three pictured pieces: one maroon wheel, one black wheel and one blue preparation disc. An angle grinder or polisher is not included.
Will one wheel produce a mirror finish?
These wheels prepare and refine the surface. Final gloss depends on the metal, starting condition and subsequent polishing steps. Keep wheel speed at or below 2,200 RPM throughout use.
How should the wheel be maintained?
Use a suitable buffing wheel rake to release accumulated build-up when needed, following the wheel and equipment instructions. Inspect the wheel and mounting before each use.
